Is it really possible to freeze human eggs?
Not only is it possible, it happens every day. Egg freezing is an Advanced Reproductive Technology that enables young women to “bank” their eggs when they’re at their healthiest and implant them at a later date when they’re ready to start a family. How does it work?
Freezing is basically just like In Vitro Fertilization—after injections to stimulate egg growth, the eggs are extracted during a simple surgical procedure and then are preserved in liquid nitrogen. Pretty straightforward, but still kind of a miracle.
